Product Information
Based on the ancient Chinese game called Mah-jongg, Shanghai is believed to be more than 25 centuries old. The game begins with 144 tiles stacked in a pyramid form called the "Dragon Formation." Players must match pairs of tiles and continue to uncover new ones. When all of the tiles are removed in 72 consecutive turns they win.

Many tiles match more than one time so you will have to choose which two are the best to remove. Removing the wrong ones may lead to a dead end. If players get stuck the Master System allows them to cheat and take moves back consecutively until they see something different they can do. Other cheats let you peek under pieces and receive computer tips.

Shanghai features three modes of play: solitaire, tournament, and challenge. Solitaire is a one-player game with no time limit. Tournament mode lets players see how fast they can remove all of the tiles. Challenge play matches two players against each other to see who can remove the most tiles with each turn containing a time limit.Product Identifiers
